Wife Of Former Head Of
International Cocaine Smuggling Organization
-- and Mother of Former Cocaine User --
Opposes Maine Medical Marijuana Initiative.
(Marijuananews note: This is really sick.
Actually, this is not the first time that the former first lady of cocaine smuggling has
endorsed the persecution of the sick and dying under the auspices of a prohibitionist
propaganda organization. She did the same thing last year in Oregon and Washington. This
is just a repeat, a fact that the prohibitionists here do not acknowledge. It is likely
that she will be ignored in Maine as she was ignored then as were three former
Presidents.

Again Oppose Medical Marijuana; It Didnt Work 2 Years Ago
By the way, today I heard from a very reliable source that major
media outlets are in hot pursuit of a new story that the Bushlet got busted for cocaine in
the early 1970s. Of course, they all continue to ignore the stories about the CIA's
involvement in rather larger quantities -- and even similar rumors about the boys.)

Former First Lady Barbara Bush Rejects Marijuana as Medicine
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.--(BW HealthWire)--Oct. 19, 1999--The campaign opposing a
"medical'' marijuana initiative in Maine got a generous boost this week, courtesy of
Former First Lady Barbara Bush.
Mrs. Bush is featured in a series of television and radio public service announcements
aimed at educating the public about marijuana as "medicine.'' In the spots,
originally recorded for The Drug Free America Foundation, Mrs. Bush expresses her concern
as a parent and grandparent for the growing numbers of children and youth using drugs in
America today. "Now is not the time,'' Mrs. Bush declares emphatically, "to send
the message to our young people that marijuana is 'medicine.' It is not. It is a
dangerous, illegal drug.''

Using The IOM Report To Justify Arresting the Sick and Dying:
"Smoking Marijuana is Not Medicine."
The Drug Free America Foundation's agreement to share Mrs. Bush's
message is a marketing coup for Mainers opposing marijuana legalization. ``She is one of
the most recognized and highly respected individuals of our time,'' said Calvina Fay, Drug
Free America's executive director. ``We think of her as our nation's grandmother;
compassionate, nurturing and infinitely wise. Sharing her concerns about legalizing
marijuana should persuade voters to reject medical excuse marijuana.''
The following is Mrs. Bush's Public Service Announcement opposing medical excuse
marijuana:
"Hello. I'm Barbara Bush. Some of the most rewarding
experiences of my life have come from working with
children. As parents and grandparents, George and I
have learned first hand the joys and challenges of
raising a family in today's world. That is why I'd like
to speak with you about an issue of great concern to us
both. Over the last several years, there has been a
dangerous trend of drug use by young people in our
country. More are experimenting with illegal drugs and
more are using drugs on a regular basis. That's why we
are concerned about efforts to legalize marijuana and
other illegal substances. Now is NOT the time to send a
message to our young people that marijuana is medicine.
It is not. It is a dangerous, illegal drug."
