Kubbys Seek Asylum In Orange County

(Marijuananews note: Orange County has had a reputation as being more Conservative than Libertarian. After all, Bob Dornan was one its Congressional representatives for years. But he is gone and so is Sheriff Brad Gates, who led the law enforcement opposition to Prop 215.

Also, as Steve notes, the Orange County Register’s great libertarian editorial page has been very outspoken on the medical marijuana issue as has the OC Weekly. Even the Bay Area media have not been this strong.)

KUBBYS HEAD FOR THE BIG ORANGE

Oh those pesky Placer County Narcs! They’ve up and forced us out of our home, out of Placer County and off their turf. Off their radar screens too.

So we’ve relocated our residence to a rented room in Nevada County, placed most of our belongings in storage, packed up our car and headed south for Orange County.

"Orange County?" you say, eyebrow cocked cautiously.

Forget what you think you know about the Big Orange, this place is the new Mecca for free enterprise and libertarian values.

The Orange County Register, a staunch supporter of medical marijuana didn’t hesitate to speak out against our arrest.

Likewise, the Orange County Weekly was the second paper to speak up in our defense. See After Interview With Steve Kubby, Orange County Weekly Says
Arresting Him "May Have Been Prop 215 Opponents' Worst Mistake"

There are more big ‘L’ Libertatians here than anywhere else in the world and all of them have gone out of their way to help us and stand with us. We’re especially grateful to Mark F. Murphy" <markm@mail.tyrell.com> for all his work in helping us.

Leaving Placer County was a much easier, thanks to our good friends, Robert and Bobby Wright <bwright@thegrid.net>, who packed up our belongings and stored them for us.

Now we are in Orange County, visiting with friends, and relieved to be out of Placer. No more deputies peeking through windows, going through our garbage or listening through our walls. Finally, we can relax and enjoy life again.

Starting Tueday, we will be ready to go to work with you and others and prepare for the historic trial ahead. The best way to reach us is by e-mail. In the meantime, we’re taking some private time as a family to heal from the war.

We intend to win in court, what should have been guaranteed when 5.3 million voters passed Prop. 215. But first we have more pressing matters to attend. Today is Brooke’s third birthday and we are going to PARTY!
