California Libertarians Form Prop. 215 Blue Ribbon Committee In Wake of Kubby Arrests

The North Tahoe Task Force, led by Investigator Michael Lyke and Deputy DA Christopher Cattran is doing everything they can to threaten and intimidate us:

1. The Task Force stole our ID including SS cards and passports for all of us, including Brooke, as well as Michele’s driver’s license. Michele has since gotten a temporary ID, but without a picture ID, we are forced to drive to places like Orange County, instead of flying.

2. They stole our safety deposit box key so we cannot get our birth certificates to get new IDs.

3. They have visited our landlords several times to threaten them. According to our landlords, the Task Force is now demanding that they inspect our home on a bimonthly basis. We just finishing repairing all the damage from the raid, but because we refuse to submit to inspections, the landlords are now theatening us with eviction.

4. Investigator Lyke continues to threaten Pete Brady with jail time unless Brady testifies against us.

5. We believe, based upon footprints in the snow outside and sighting of the infamous green jeep, that the Task Force is still surveilling us, making our life at home miserable.

6. All of our electronic publishing equipment, including our printer, scanner, and digital camera continues to be withheld from us. We can’t even get our client list and do the most basic of business transactions. As a result, our magazine which was rated by Lycos as one of the top 25 electronic magazines in the world, is now destroyed and we have been forced into bankruptcy. Even a letter documenting our bankruptcy was not enough to get any of our equipment returned.

7. The prosecutor, Christopher Cattran has just added new charges to our indictment, bringing the total to nine counts against both Michele and myself. The new charges include stupid stuff like possession of over an ounce of pot and conspiracy to buy grow lights and CO2 generators for the purpose of manufacturing a controlled substance. Our attorney, Dale Wood says these new charges are so bogus that they will end up damaging the credibility of the prosecutor. Still, they show a pattern of malicious prosecution.

8. The Task Force hired repairmen from our gas and electric companies to participate in their raid and then we were forced to pay their extra charges, just to keep our utilities connected.

9. The Task Force stole our $2,000 petty cash account at home and even helped themselves to all the money in our wallet and purse. Our advisors tell us we’ll never see this money again.

10. The Task Force also went to our post office and bank to told them what criminals we were. Michele had a horrible time getting the postmaster and bank officials to stop treating her in an offensive manner.

Michele and I are mentally and financially exhausted. Michele, Brooke and I will be fleeing Placer County, immediately after our court appearance on Tuesday, March 2^nd. We will head to the Bay Area to meet with friends and advisors and then head down to Laguna Beach early on the 3^rd. We look forward to some peace and sanity with our Southern California Libertarian friends. We also hope to do lots of fundraising and media appearances.

Dr. DeQuattro will lay claim to me for several days as well, in order to document how medical marijuana has kept me alive all these years. Our visit to Southern California is scheduled to last until March 13^th, but we can add a few days if necessary.

I fear that the Task Force and DA are so desperate that they will do anything to protect their case and their jobs. I ask that the Blue Ribbon Committee take whatever actions it deems necessary to protect me and my family from these rogue officials in Placer County.
