Australian State Cannabis Laws Vary Greatly
An estimated 800,000 children and adolescents
nationwide last year were prescribed antidepressants such as Prozac, Paxil and Zoloft,
according to IMS America, an industry research firm that surveys physicians. Another half
a million children, aged 6 to 12, were prescribed Tegretol and Depakote, two adult
antimanic, antiseizure drugs, the firms data shows. And in 1996 some 3.25 million in
that age group were prescribed drugs such as Ritalin to control hyperactivity, IMS America
says. Controversy or no, such drug use by kids in the general population is at least
monitored by parents and physicians.

"Customs already seizes more drugs than all other federal
agencies combined, including more than 607,000 pounds of marijuana and 46,000
pounds of cocaine in its border regions alone last year. But with some law-enforcement
officials estimating that 90 percent or more of all drugs that cross
the border go undetected, the agency is under constant pressure to step up the pace
and scope of its searches."

How Does the Cost of One Budweiser Commercial on The
Super Bowl Compare With NORML's Annual Budget? A thirty second ad during the Super Bowl
costs over $1,300,000. This is roughly three times NORML's
annual budget -- and this does not include the ad's production costs!! Also NORML does not
have a blimp to fly over and get credit for aerial shots. But you may have guessed that.

Comparison of drug
addiction levels in various European countries. Contrast the
situation in Holland where cannabis can be used openly with that elsewhere. The Dutch
separate cannabis from hard drugs, which the Dutch believe has helped them reduce the
number of people per capita there using hard drugs below the number in Britain and France
and indeed below the European average.
