$6 Million Hemp Processing Plant In Rural Manitoba "Sends a very strong signal to
farmers."

Shipment Via Worlds Largest Cargo Plane Represents "On Schedule"
Commitment Of Industrial Hemp Company To Regions Farmers, Fulfillment of Business
Plan
Taking off from Chateauroux, France approximately ten hours earlier, a Russian Antonov
124, the largest commercial cargo aircraft in the world, delivered 100 tonnes of
industrial hemp seed today to Winnipeg International Airport, fulfilling a major element
in the business plan of Consolidated Growers & Processors, Inc. to meet the needs of
farmers in the Manitoba region.
"Hemp was a bumper crop last year when planted at the beginning of June. It was
our intention to make our 1999 delivery at the same time and were glad we could do
it right on schedule," stated CGP chief executive officer Larry Siddens. "While
shipping by boat would have been less expensive, we were committed to having an accurate
seed count in helping as many farmers who wanted to grow hemp to get their government
permits, which took a little extra time."
The 100 tonnes of industrial hemp seed is comprised of two French varieties bred
especially for the Manitoba prairies. Previously, CGP had delivered 78 tons of Ukrainian
seed, 85% of which is already planted. "The increasing desire by farmers to grow hemp
fits very well with our business plan, which calls for a significant increase in acreage
this year and the start-up of a temporary processing facility in Dauphin this fall to
precede the construction of two permanent processing facilities scheduled to open in the
fall of 2000."
Under long-term contracts with local farmers, Consolidated Growers & Processors is
expanding its Canadian operations, significantly increasing the prior years planting
acreage for 1999 and planning as many as 70,000 acres in 2000. Integral to that expansion
is the building of two state-of-the-art processing facilities in Dauphin which, at full
capacity, will employ 100 people and process up to 100,000 tonnes of hemp straw and 15,000
tonnes of hemp seed annually, its end products to include nutraceutical oil, foods, paper
and automobile components. By the end of 2003, CGP expects to plant 500,000 acres and
build twenty processing facilities in three primary growing regions.
