note that this site is a .com, not a .org. There are a number of reasons
for this. For one thing, there is already at least one .org too many competing for a
limited pool of philanthropic support. On a more positive note, in modern capitalism,
business drives culture and politics. If this is done honestly and responsibly, it is a
good thing. (On the other hand, when drug companies support the Partnership for a
Drug-Free America in opposition to medical marijuana, and others use cartoons to sell
their products to children... ) The business plan for marijuananews.com calls for (future) advertising revenues based on readership. This means that it will have to be interesting, and consequently make a positive contribution to the legalization of marijuana, and thereby to justify its existence and become economically viable and thus a good investment. The Internet is changing the economics of both information and advocacy. Ultimately, this may be the most important lesson of this site. We must do more than end marijuana prohibition. We must learn the methods and develop the tools to keep anything like this from ever happening again. This site is therefore an experiment using the Internet to harness the forces of the market in the defense of freedom.One of the ways that this site will keep your interest will be by reporting on the development of cannabis related businesses around the world. There will be reports on possible areas for investment, and I hope that both entrepreneurs and potential risk capital investors will use marijuananews.com to develop a network to help speed the growth of the cannabis industries. I will be actively seeking risk capital investors for both this business and others in the cannabis industries.
