RESEARCH CENTER LOOKS FOR PROFIT AMID PHARMACEUTICAL
ADVANCES
Oxford, MississippiA researcher at the University of
Mississippi have developed a marijuana-based rectal suppository.
The researcher says the suppository contains the active ingredient in marijuana, T-H-C.
He says it could be useful for patients suffering from nausea and other problems. He says
the patient gets T-H-Cs medicinal value without the psychological high associated
with smoking marijuana.
(Marijuananews note: There is no reason why a person would not get
high from this means of administration, and the problems of controlling effective dosage
would be as great as with taking the THC capsule at the other end of the alimentary canal.
Of course, it is also true that this does not deliver any of the other cannabinoids that
are known to be beneficial. This does have the advantage of putting the single molecule
paradigm in its proper place.)
He also says the drug is less likely to be abused this way. He figures most people
dont want any type of suppository.
(Marijuananews note: The perfect model for a medicine is one that no
one wants to take, so that the sick and dying are not unnecessarily happy.)
